An American novelist and essayist, Leslie Jamison (b. 1983) was born in Washington DC, grew up in Los Angeles, attended both Harvard and Yale and is a product of the acclaimed Iowa Writer’s Workshop. Her work has been published in numerous periodicals, including The New York Times Book Review and Harper’s Magazine. Her first novel, The Gin Closet, was a finalist for the Los Angeles Times First Fiction Prize in 2010. The Empathy Exams, a 2014 collection of her essays, was an immediate best-seller and won the Graywolf Press Nonfiction Prize. She lives in Brooklyn, New York.
