Books and nail polish are pretty much the perfect pair (as long as you’re careful about turning the pages with wet nails). A while back, we dreamed up our own list of book-inspired nail polish shades. Sadly, no cosmetics companies have been in touch yet to discuss a partnership, but we have the next best thing: real-life literary nail polishes!

This five-piece collection came out in December 2015 with colors named after Emily Bronte books/characters. The company is based in the UK — find out where to buy them in your country. Although I’m definitely not a fan of the book Wuthering Heights, I loved the shimmery mauve grey named in its honor! They also glow in the dark to help you discover elusive clues. Horror fans might prefer the Clive Barker set, complete with creepy stitched wounds. Inspired by, yep, the Divergent young-adult books, this limited-edition set came out in 2014 along with the first movie, but you can still buy it online. Despite the grim dystopian setting of the books, this collection is a pleasant set of neutral tones that will flatter most skin tones. My favorite is True Pearl, but you could wear any of these to the office without raising an eyebrow — though you might not want to read the books at your desk. Speaking of young-adult movie tie-ins, China Glaze also did a collection to go along with the movie release of The Giver. Since I’m a glitzy lady, my favorite color from this collection is the taupe-and-black glitter called Boundary of Memory, but the matte navy shade called History of the World is pretty good, too. You can buy them individually or as a set here.

Literary Lacquer
At this Etsy store, you’ll find dozens of gorgeous shades with literary names. I love them all, but if I had to pick a favorite, I’d go with the gothic vampy shades of the Rebecca Collection. The glittering deep teal of Je Reviens is as delightfully creepy as the book! For a modern-day gothic romance complete with crumbling castle, try The Distant Hours by Kate Morton.
