Born in India, Siddhartha Mukherjee (b. 1970) is an American physician and author whose first book, The Emperor of All Maladies, was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for General Non-Fiction in 2011 and was named one of the 100 most influential books of the last 100 years by Time magazine. He earned his medical degree at Harvard University, trained in internal medicine and hematology/oncology at Massachusetts General Hospital and is currently an assistant professor and staff physician at Columbia University. He lives in New York City with his wife, contemporary artist Sarah Sze and their two daughters.
