Sue and Stephanie hang out. It’s the middle of January, and so far I’m right on track with my annual resolutions: I’ve made a halfhearted stab at healthier eating, and I’ve been devouring books eagerly. The bone-chilling cold (by Seattle standards, anyway) has made it all too easy to stay inside, cozily reading books, crafting, or ideally reading books about crafting, like Craft-a-Day.

I know at least one lady who made a New Year’s resolution to take up a new hobby and/or teach herself a craft. If that sounds good to you, check out our craft book guide for some ideas on a new pastime. It’s got everything from making your own butter to hand-sewn stationery!

If I can tear myself away from my to-read stack, I’ve got some knitting projects that have been waiting patiently for my attention. If holding knitting needles keeps my hands from reaching for the candy bowl, it might turn out to be a weight-loss activity after all!
