Profile
Neuroscientist and author Sam Harris (b. 1967) first gained fame – and notoriety – when he published The End of Faith in 2004, a surprise bestseller that launched “The New Atheism” movement. He has gone on to become a frequently sought out critic of religion, making numerous public appearances in person and on television. As expected, his views have generated extensive controversy and criticism and he rarely seems to be able to resist the temptation to respond, frequently inflaming his opponents further. In addition to his efforts to free society from the effects of religion, he often writes on other topics, such as psychology, neuroscience, gun control and spirituality. He is co-founder of Project Reason, a non-profit foundation that seeks to spread scientific knowledge and secular values in society.
