Author Sean B. Carroll (b. 1960) is a professor of molecular biology and genetics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison – not to be confused with the slightly younger Sean M. Carroll, an author and astrophysicist at Caltech. Through his work on the Drosophila fruit fly he has become one of the founding experts in the area of evolutionary developmental biology, also known as Evo Devo. In addition to his research and teaching he writes a monthly column for The New York Times and is an investigator at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. He is the author of several books, including Endless Forms Most Beautiful and Brave Genius.
